Winnipeg Beaver Bus Lines Orion V Charter

Mark your calendars! June 1, 2024 will be the next CTHF charter in Winnipeg, MB! The CTHF is sponsoring a trip for transit historians aboard a Beaver Bus Lines Orion V bus (from 2000-04, ex-GO Transit) on Saturday, June 1 in Winnipeg MB. This is the one of the oldest, and few remaining, high floor transit buses operating in Canada.

The fan trip will retrace the historic Winnipeg-Selkirk route, first operated between 1903 and 1937 by the Winnipeg, Selkirk and Lake Winnipeg Railway Company followed by Beaver Bus Lines and other operators. If time permits, the old route to Stonewall will also be retraced. The charter will start at the Balmoral Street Bus Stop (next to the old Bus Terminal, on Balmoral Street just north of Portage Avenue) at 10:00 AM, returning at 4:00 PM. Numerous photo stops will be planned and a lunch stop will be included. We will also visit the Beaver Bus Lines and Selkirk Transit garages.

APPLICATION FORM

The Manitoba Transit Heritage Association, Inc. (MTHA) was established on July 21, 1989 by a group of dedicated Winnipeg Transit employees and retirees interested in preserving, recording, and sharing transit heritage.

The MTHA is a membership-based museum and registered tax charitable organization whose volunteers continue to restore and operate the largest collection of authentic vintage transit vehicles in the Province of Manitoba. We provide these historically accurate vehicles for appearances in movies and television, and together with our Transit Museum Bus bring them to schools and other community events for public education.
